Easy To Learn Guitar Tabs

9th July

easy to learn guitar tabs
Is it easy to learn the guitar if you have had previous experience with the keyboard?

I am thinking about taking guitar lessons and I am wondering if there are any similarities between it and the keyboard.

I have played the piano for about 5 years, so i have no problem with reading sheet music. However I don’t know how to read guitar tabs so I was wondering if it is hard to learn in comparison with the piano.

No, it’s toltally different, in piano your left hand is playing the bass clef and the right is playing the G clef, with guitar your left hand is turned upside down, the only good thing is that your fimilar with the G clef music, you just have to learn where the notes are on the guitar. Tabs are confusing once your use to reading music notation, the lines represent the strings of the guitar, and the numbers represent the frets that you have to play in, zero meaning to play the string open, and an x means that string is not to be played. The piano don’t hurt your fingers like the guitar does, you have to have calloulses before you can play the guitar wihout pain. I think all that it’s going to take is for you to learn where the notes are on the guitar, and get those callouses. Guitar is not as easy as eveyone thinks it is, maybe if your going to play just a few chords it’s easier, but not if your going to learn how to play correctly, chords, notes, and where they are on the guitar, and how to use your fingers, the nails on the left hand have to be very short, and if your going to play finger style or classical you have to have a little nail shaped just right on your right hand. If you’ve played piano for five years I don’t think you’ll have any trouble, it may be confusing at first, but I think you’ll be able to adapt. Good luck, and if you want to try some sites for guitar here are a few.

Play Guitar Tabs

How do you know which strings to play in guitar tabs?

I know the numbers in tabs mean the frets to hold down and so on. What I mean is how do you know which strings to strum with your picking hand? Do you just listen to the original song and try get it right or what?

In the tab there should be six lines. Each line represents a string on a guitar. The E string at the top of guitars or the lowest sounding string is the bottom line on the tab. The highest sounding string is the top line of the tab. You read it from left to right so the number that is the first from the left you play first, the second from the left you play second and so on.

Learning Guitar Notes

is it better to learn guitar using TAB or reading notes on staff?

is it better to learn guitar using TAB or reading notes on staff?
i heard that learning using TAB allows you to ‘discover the secrete of improvisation’ quicker.

thanks

Hello there,

There is no “better” way. Which ever method works for you, use it.

Many people learn to play the guitar without bothering to learn to read music. Tablature is a quick way to write and read guitar notes.

I cannot fathom how tab would allow you to discover the secrets of improvisation quicker. Unless that means you do not have to spend the time learning to read music. The ability to improvise comes from an understanding of music, either through the study music theory or the experience of playing. You need to understand music to improvise. How you came to understand does not matter.

Later,

Learning to Play Guitar – Can You Do it for Free?

If you are interested in learning to play the guitar for free, this article will give you a plan of action. There are certain areas of interest that you need to explore to get the most out of free ways of learning to play guitar. You need to be able to use search engines effectively, and you need to have a firm idea of what to search for. We will be looking at the benefits or otherwise of learning to read music and tab, plus putting free guitar lesson videos to good use.

When you start out learning to play guitar you need a plan. Of course, you do not really have a plan at this stage, just a bunch of desires. So you will need to use your local search engine to look for websites that give you free guitar lessons. The lessons you find on these sites might not give you all you need to learn to play but first page on these sites usually gives you an overview of learning guitar. You will be able to see the skills you need to learn and how to learn them.

A basic summary of what you will find on free guitar lesson websites would be lessons on how to sit and stand while playing, how to hold your guitar, placement of your thumb, barre chords, scales, musical notation and tablature. Many free guitar lessons are very basic because they are there just to entice you to the site where hopefully you will sign up for paid lessons. This does not mean that these free guitar lessons are useless, just that you will need to search in more detail to fill your needs completely.

Before we go further in search of guitar lessons, let us look at how we use the search engines. If we take Google as an example, and we type the phrase, free guitar lessons, into the search box we will get thousands or maybe millions of results because our search results are pages that contain the separate words free, guitar, lessons. To make our search more effective we need to type our phrase in quotes – “free guitar lessons”. Using the quotes in our search gives us pages that contain this phrase, and these pages are much more likely to contain information that we want. Keep this method in mind when you are searching for any information on the internet, especially things like song titles.

We need to talk about YouTube and similar sites that feature videos of guitar lessons. Learning to play the guitar by watching other guitar players is the best way to learn. Before the internet we had to pay guitar teachers a chunk of change in exchange for lessons that were nowhere near as good as alot of the free guitar video lessons you can find now. It is best to use videos in conjunction with tabs to learn music. Some videos actually have links to tabs. The thing is to decide what type of music you want to learn to play and use the search box to look for the genre, such as “fingerstyle blues guitar” or to find how to play particular pieces try something like “house of the rising sun guitar lesson”. If your search does not yield results try again without the quotes.

electric guitar lesson

electric guitar lesson
if i learn to play the electric guitar can i also play the bass guitar?

i want to play both but can only afford one class to teach me one of these instruments. is it easier to play bass guitar if i take classes on how to play electric guitar or should i take bass guitar lessons first?

Please start with the one you like more. Both have different styles and techniques but ones you learn one of them and get familiar with music and music theory learning the other will be easier than learning the first one.
To give a short answer if you learn to play the electric guitar it does not mean that you can play a bass guitar too. But if you can play the electric guitar the bass guitar will not be a stranger to you. :)
