I am looking to record some of my guitar lessons on a small device that records sound digitally that doesn’t use a tape. I want to eventually download what I have recorded onto my mac. I am not sure which devices work on a mac. I am looking for something good, but relatively cheap. Does any one have any suggestions?

Thanks!
I only have a ipod shuffle and am not investing in an ipod in the near future yet.

try this device it is a MP3 player first but accepts a line in so you could hook it into a system for playback later.

Where does the phrase “blue moon” come from?

The origin of the term Blue Moon is steeped in folklore, and its meaning has changed and acquired new and interesting meanings and nuances over time. The earliest known recorded usage was in 1528, in a pamphlet entitled Rede Me and Be Not Wrothe: “Yf they say the mone is belewe, we must believe that it is true”. This implies the expression had a meaning of something that was absurd, and bears close resemblance to another moon-related adage first recorded in the following year “They woulde make men beleue … that ye Moone is made of grene chese”.

What is the best way to learn Acoustic guitar fast without wasting time?

I heard someone play and the dude was great. He said he taught himself and he only been playing for a year. His guitar had more than 6strings though. What ya think?

Well first and foremost thing is that you shud own a guitar, and if available and feasible, a good one. I own onw from Yamaha.
Now coming to your question, it depends on what type of learner you are… you should be dedicated and have someone to tell you some basic tips.. after that you can go along yourself…
You should take care of your beating, changing chords come second, firstly you should do something like this… 1 2 3 4, beat the same chord four times slowly.. and do take care of timing…do it slowly, don’t miss even one string while beating as per the instructions for playing that specific chord…
Ive only been playing for a month and now i kno almost all basics,, and i can play any song provided to me after few practices….and meet out your friends for help.. it will quicken your pace,,,, you can become better than you dude in 6 months if you play well…….. n hey i’ll be playing knock knock by GNR and singing it in our school function shortly.. me a guy who has had a guitar only for a month!.. you can download easy chord
at www.subjectmusic.com/easychord .. it helps n is available 4 free!
have fun dude..

blues drums question?

i have the rhythm travelers series from pearl. i wrote a little blues sounding song (i also play guitar and keys) and i was wondering how to make it sounding. should i get more cymbals (ride/crash/anything else) or something else like more toms? i’ve tried to write a drum part for my song but it never sounds right. please help me.

Try very little crash…over compensate for that with a little bit more ride (but not to much and not to hard). Also, not to much floor tom. Another idea would be to crank the Bass guitar up little by little until its just right. Good luck.

Blue Sky Uranium Ahead of the Pack in Argentina

Vancouver-based Blue Sky Uranium Corp. (TSX.V: BSK), barely out of the starting gate, makes no bones about its international ambitions.

“We would like to end 2008 as the largest uranium land holder in Argentina and the dominant uranium explorer,” says Blue Sky president Sean Hurd.

So far, 18-month-old Blue Sky is more than 4,000 km2 along that road, with its Santa Barbara property in Rio Negro province of northern Patagonia staked by the man who may be Argentina’s leading uranium exploration geologist.

As Hurd tells it, Dr. Jorge Berrizzo, after 14 years at the Argentinean National Atomic Energy Commission, is finding new freedom in the private sector, just as the Argentinean uranium market is starting to buzz.

While Berrizzo played a large role in the discovery of the Cerro Solo uranium deposit in Chubut province, to the south of Rio Negro, “the problem with working for the government is that your focus is narrow and your funding is limited,” Hurd said in an interview.

So Berrizzo has teamed up with a number of private businessmen in the Argentina Uranium Corp. to explore interesting, but untouched, regions. And Blue Sky, bringing to the table its ability as a public company to raise capital, now has a deal with Argentina Uranium to earn a 75% interest in the Santa Barbara property.

Surface sampling has turned up grades of up to 1.5% U3O8, along an 11-kilometre trend. That compares to 0.3-0.5% U3O8 at the Cerro Solo deposit.

“There is obvious uranium mineralization at the surface, which is rare and exciting,” Hurd said. “And we’ve completed an airborne radiometric and magnetic survey over 3,000 square kilometers. It’s the first survey of its kind conducted in that province.”

“At Santa Barbara, our objective is to follow up the air survey with detailed sampling, leading to a drill program.”

Hurd expects Santa Barbara to be just the beginning. “The geological environment in the western United States where the bulk of the U.S. uranium production comes from (also) exists in Argentina,” he said.

While the Argentinean government focused on exploring in Chubut, regions to both the north and the south look geologically promising, he said.

And, after years of slumber, the uranium rush appears to be underway. Argentina has seen uranium exploration since the 1950s, but the country only opened to foreign mineral exploration in 1993 and to uranium exploration, in particular, in 2000.

Meanwhile, the country’s mines all closed and exploration tapered off to nothing as the price of uranium bottomed out at US$7/lb, thanks to the recycling of military stockpiles.

But those stockpiles are petering out, the demand for energy keep growing, the price of oil keeps going up, new nuclear reactors are on the drawing boards, and the spot price of uranium has approached US$100/lb.

Argentina, with two Canadian-built nuclear reactors in operation, is now building a third, hoping to supply 20% of the country’s energy demand from that source by 2025, up from seven per cent today.

That means annual domestic demand for uranium will nearly double, from a current 110 tonnes, to 210 tonnes.

Blue Sky found its Argentinean niche in the first place through its stake in Grosso Group Management Ltd. – headed by Argentina native Joe Grosso – which has been exploring for minerals and for oil and gas in South America since 1990.

Blue Sky director Hernan Celorrio is on the ground in Argentina, dealing with the daily red tape of both federal and provincial governments. “It’s very difficult to do that from Canada,” Hurd said. The Buenos Aires professor of law was president of Barrick Explorations Argentina from 1999 to 2006.

And Dr. Clifton Farrell, with 25 years in the uranium and alternate energy fields, has just joined Blue Sky as chief operating officer. Along with a PhD in geochemistry from Harvard University, Farrell comes fresh from 12 years at the Nuclear Energy Institute in Washington, where he looked after licensing and regulatory affairs.

Argentina may be looking fairly stable politically these days, but Blue Sky also has a couple of small properties in Columbia. Hurd admits that, even five years ago, any foray into that country would have all but unthinkable.

However, “there’s been a vast improvement in Columbia in the climate for exploration,” he insisted. “We have option agreements on two uranium properties and we’re not operating in the country on our own. We’re going through the Grosso Group.”

“It’s a chance to get in before other companies recognize the opportunity.”

Blue Sky doesn’t have all its eggs in a South American basket, though. A joint venture with Eagle Plains Resources at Eagle Lake, on the outside edge of Canada’s Athabasca Basin, was Blue Sky’s first property.

“It’s had good historical sampling,” Hurd said. “We’ve completed several surface programs and we are waiting to drill the property as soon as the winter freeze-up comes.”

Blues Guitar Lessons

Maybe you have thought about computer blues guitar lessons. If you could order your own tailor-made Blues Guitar lesson course for your computer, what would you request? It might help to think about the basic requirements of computer blues guitar lessons. Basically your lessons need to show you how to hold and play the guitar, how to read guitar tabs, sheet music or both, and some way of checking your progress. So let us look at some of the computer blues guitar lessons out there and see how they fulfill our requirements.

Learn And Master Guitar has a one-hundred page book, twenty DVDs, five CDs featuring backing tracks plus they offer free support. The structure of this course follows the basic principles of all computer Blues Guitar Lessons: you have your learning material that you get from the book and from the DVDs, and you practice what you have learned using the backing tracks as a guide and reality check on your emerging guitar skills.

Another computer guitar course is called Amazing Guitar Secrets. Once again you have a book and DVDs containing your guitar lessons and backing tracks to play along with. You can track how you are progressing using a section of the book which allows you to have a visual record of what you have learnt.

If you have been looking around for computer guitar lessons you have probably come across Jamorama. Jamorama is for the guy who does not take music particularly seriously but thinks it might be cool to be able to play some songs and riffs on the guitar. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. To be fair, Jamorama does give you plenty of substantial material in the books, audio and video which you download to make you a “real” guitar player should you so desire.

The three guitar lesson courses I have mentioned are meant to be shipped to you in printed form and on discs or downloaded and kept on your computer. There is another alternative: the membership site. The most comprehensive and so far the most successful is Jamplay. With Jamplay you get access to a number of guitar teachers who are experts in their own style of music. These teachers are videoed giving lessons illustrating techniques and how to play particular songs. The lessons cover all stages of guitar learning. So with Amazing Guitar Secrets, Jamorama and Learn And Master Guitar you get to keep all the guitar lessons at your house, your Jamplay membership gets you access to any improvements, revisions and updates that occur. Jamplay also has progress reports, a forum and support through video answers to your questions. Jamplay is probably the most economical option as you can pay by the month, and your fees drop drastically if you pay by the quarter or annually.

I should mention that none of the above computer guitar lesson courses lack for quality. The printed material, downloadable audio and video, CDs and DVDs are all first class. The difference between the methods is the varying approaches to the guitar.

Jamorama is one of the most popular courses on the net today. The course has been one of the best ways to learn to play the guitar from your own home and is reasonable price for all that you get with the course. This online course starts you at (I do not know where my fingers go) beginner to oh my god how did I get so good. Ben Edwards is the creator of the course and he has put together a great entry level guitar lessons with easy to use instructions. They do have a downloadable lessons as well as a hard copy that they can ship to you. With the price difference, I recommend that you purchase the downloadable version.

About the Author

This is a full course on how to play from the beginning to advanced play. Before you spend all your time searching for the best computer guitar lessons on your own, I suggest that you try this course and see if it has what you are looking for. This course has a 60 day money back guarantee so if you do not like it you can return it with no questions at

Free Blues Guitar Lessons Can Give You the Blues

As an old Rock N Roll guitar player myself, the first thing I found out, when looking for free blues guitar lessons on line was this: I had learned to play guitar based on some really bad habits. My fingering and picking were all wrong from the start. In effect, I didn’t know how to play guitar correctly which made it more difficult to perform blues riffs.

When I first decided to learn to play guitar as a teenager, I was told that the keys in learning how to play guitar successfully were to be able to read music, to learn theory, and practice, practice and even more practice. But, who had the time, energy, and money, to do all that when you are throwing together a garage band? We had one accomplished player in the group who taught the rest of us only the tunes we were going to play at gigs. We learned the rest on our own – by ear!

I was also told to find an instructor who spoke my language and who understood that I needed to start at the beginning. I quickly found out that most guitar teachers are either not very good at teaching or they just can’t resist showing off their prowess. Most guitar teachers simply can’t communicate the basics. I think they forgot what it was like to be in our shoes.

Teaching anything takes a certain kind of personality. Can you remember a favorite school teacher? That teacher stood out from all the others because they knew how to reach you at your level. I can only remember two great teachers. I excelled in their classes. Well, it’s the same with guitar instructors. Most just don’t know how to reach us to teach us.

If you long to learn how to play blues guitar, you have only a handful of really good free online videos, and courses to choose from on the web. But, finding free Blues Guitar Lessons is a frustrating exercise that will eat up hours of time as you dig through all that is being offered. There is just too much bad stuff out there.

So, what’s the next B. B. King to do?

If you have surfed the so-called free programs, you know that most leave you hanging or confused because they assume too much about your level of skill. They throw out technical terms as if we understand about open E tuning, 12 bar blues, tablature, and on and on they lecture. We get buried in theory that only Beethoven could understand. Most of these freebies are not for beginners or if you play other styles of music on guitar. Playing blues guitar has its own unique set of moves and techniques that must be learned on their own.

Now, it’s completely up to you to choose which free blues guitar lessons that will suit your level of understanding and skill. At some point you need to choose your favorite learn how to play the blues program and just go for it. This is the trick. Which program will move you along the fastest so that, within a few weeks to a month, you will begin to see and hear the enormous improvements that are taking place in your style of guitar playing?

My quest right now is learning how to play blues slide guitar. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do not only to impress family and friends but to accomplish a lifelong dream I’ve never let die. The sound of a great blues player just does something for me that I can’t explain.

Playing slide blues seems physically easy in one sense. You just drag a slide over the strings and instantly hear the effect. Well, I can tell you that, at first, it can be difficult to get sliding under control to play in tune and keep the accompanying buzzing and rattling sounds from making your cat run for cover! Now, slide guitar doesn’t require left-hand strength the way normal acoustic guitar playing does, but it does require learning the basics and learning the right touch!

Free Blues Guitar Lessons are great to get your juices flowing but, if you really want to learn how to play blues guitar, my advice is to go to your local bookstore or look on line for a course that starts with the basics. You just have to start at the beginning if you want to sound like the great blues players.

Where do I go next with my guitar playing?

Ok so I’ve been playing guitar for about 2 and a half years, I’m a pretty advanced player, I can play a lot of Led Zeppelin, solos and all, I have tonnes of influences including a lot of rock and blues. I know how to create solos with my pentatonic scales and I know all my major scale modes and I’m into all the advanced chords. I’v recently come to a standstill in my playing right when I started to get really serious about being a musician when I grow up. I’m bored of playing all the songs of my favorite bands, people always tell me to make my own, I know the theory and I know what I want to hear but nothing sounds all that great or worth repeating. It’s hard to explain over yahoo, I’ve had lessons but he was the only guy offering lessons in my town and he ran out of stuff to do. Where should I go next? I’m 14 and I’ve played in a band and we even played a few gigs because they liked us but it wasn’t my kind of music, all modern 3 chord bores. Please help

Well unfortunately for your age, there is not a good chance of finding other people your age that like the same music as you (i’m assuming you like classic rock… knowing how to play zeppelin…). try to write your own stuff AND RECORD IT. if you record it and you find things you don’t like, you can always change it and add on to the things you do like. use an old tape recorder or a cell phone… anything that records so you can go back and see what you like and don’t like. try to find people to play with that have the same taste in music as you, and find people who are just as dedicated and motivated as you. and always be open to listening to different types of music… new or old. you may be surprised to find what may inspire you.
